Posture defects in children

Posture defects

Nowadays, about 80% of children have postural defects. This is related to lifestyle, reduced physical activity, and more and more time spent in front of the TV or computer. Children do not have the habit of adopting the correct posture when sitting at a table, at a desk or while playing. They are not taught this.

Your child develops bad posture if he or she sits for hours at a desk, in front of the TV or computer, if he or she spends little time outdoors and avoids sports. Currently, posture defects are an increasingly serious problem for school-age children.

Goals of corrective gymnastics:

- developing the habit of correct posture

-correction of existing defects and prevention of their deepening

-strengthening of postural muscles, abdominal and back muscles

-improving the child's overall fitness and endurance

-stretching excessively contracted muscles

-increasing the range of motion in the joints

-obesity prevention

-learning exercises to correct defects.

Classes are conducted in the most attractive way possible for children, using various equipment and devices.

Before starting corrective classes, a consultation with a rehabilitation physician/orthopedist or a physiotherapist is recommended to examine the child for postural defects, identify the problem and set therapy goals.

Accurate functional analysis allows for the application of individual therapy.

The most common posture defects:

-lateral curvature of the spine

-flat feet, clubfoot, flat-valgus feet

-chest chicken, flat

-excessive fatigue of the child

-round, flat, concave back

- slouching, protruding belly.

Corrective gymnastics is recommended for children with spine defects (lateral curvatures of the spine, rounded, flat, rounded-concave back), foot defects (flat-valgus, clubfoot, longitudinal, transverse flatfoot) and knee defects (valgus, varus knees).

It is also recommended for children with low muscle tone to strengthen the muscle corset, and for children with excessive fatigability to increase the body's endurance and capacity.
